Description

Possibly one of the most stylish early 1940s evening dresses I have seen, I got disproportionately excited about the fact that it has one of the early chunky plastic zippers. Yes, there´s obviously not been a lot going on in my life of late.. but that aside; this dress is quite a showstopper and one would imagine originally pretty high fashion.

The neckline is asymmetric, it has padded shoulders and full length sleeves which are carefully darted at the elbows. There is the aforementioned side zipper, and original sequin studded belt. each individual fringe on the asymmetric peplum is also finished with a (metal) sequin.

The skirt is full length and pretty column like - has a small split to the bottom of each side seam for ease of movement. I would keep this in a heartbeat if it was my size!

Fabric: Rayon crepe (no labels)

Labels: None found but finished to a high standard.

hips 40/42"
overall length 58"

Condition: Very good to excellent. Only noted flaws are the odd missing sequin (only a few). Old dry cleaners tag present so was evidently cleaned after last use and worn very little by all appearances. Couldn´t decide if the (exciting) side zipper was missing another bit of it´s pull - see picture - or not but perfectly useable. Ready to wear!
